Four 5W-30s and They All Look Good

The results of the tests conducted on the four samples of SAE 5W-30 shown below meet the SAE J300 specifications for a SAE 5W-30 viscosity grade and are consistent with the API Service Categories shown on the labels.

A Look Back at the SAE 5W-30s PQIA Reported on in 2016

The four samples of 5W-30 shown above build on the 19 samples, represented by 17 brands, of 5W-30 the PQIA examined and reported on in 2016. Twelve of those samples were labeled as meeting the API SN Service Classification, two are API SJ, and one each of SB and SM. Three 5W-30 samples examined in 2016 do not display an API Service Classification on the label.

Although 11 of the samples tested (58%) had no issues, Consumer Alerts were issued on seven. CLICK FOR DETAILS
