PQIA Takes a Look at 5 More Brands, Two Underscore the Importance of Reading the Labels

PQIA recently purchased five brands of motor oil on the shelves at convenience stores in PA and NJ. The results of the tests conducted on these samples meet the SAE J300 specifications for the SAE Viscosity Grade listed on their product labels and are consistent with the listed API Service Categories. It should be noted, however, that two of the brands are labelled as an API SN/ISAC GF-5 but do not display any API certifications marks for these specifications.

  1. I know you have enough on your plate in the US, but fyi, Xcel (SA) is marketed in all stores / all islands of the Bahamas. I email advised Maxwells ( largest / “real” supermarket in Marsh Harbour) but they never replied. Also unable to learn their US supplier.
